Yves Peeters

Yves Peeters Group was brought together in March 2007 by drummer Yves Peeters. After a series of concerts in jazz clubs and festivals at home and abroad, including Jazz in ‘t Park (Ghent) and Bamako Jazz Festival (Mali), the band toured with Jazzlab Series in 2010. The debut album ‘Sound Tracks’ was released the same year on the W.E.R.F. label and was enthusiastically received by press and public.

The repertoire of Yves Peeters Group consists of original compositions by all band members. The music is characterized by the colorful mix of influences such as Americana and African music, with jazz as its basic ingredient. Theatre Marni described the music of Yves Peeters Group as “Mysterious music, a little country, a little bluesy, brilliantly evoking the rough landscape of desolate areas such as in Texas or the Sahel.”

Yves Peeters Group is currently working with visual artist Joop Pareyn on the creation of
Hallucinations, an audiovisual performance they will tour with throughout the Benelux in 2013. The
new songs composed for this project will be recorded in the summer of 2012. The release of the
album is expected early 2013.

	Nicolas Kummert (°79) – tenorsax & vocals Nicolas Kummert recorded over 30 albums with jazz musicians, African musicians and DJ’s. In 2003 he won the Django d’Or for young jazz talents and with Alexi Tuomarila Quartet he won different international contests . Nowadays he is mainly engaged in his own projects: Voices (with a.o. 	Frederik Leroux (°80) – guitar Frederik Leroux studied in Brussels, The Hague and New York. From 2004 to 2006, Frederik lead his own quartet, with which he recorded the album ‘Angular’ in 2005. His current projects are a trio under his name and a solo project.www.frederikleroux.com
	Nicolas Thys (°68) – bass Nicolas Thys played together with all the great musicians from the Belgian jazz scene, as well as many international artists (such as Lee Konitz, Bill Carrothers, Marc Ducret, Jim Black, Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Bob Brookmeyer, …). Nicolas plays on many albums as a sideman and has recorded several albums as a leader. www.myspace.com/nicolasthys
